Upcoming tour and monthly nights

We are joining Grimble Grumble on the NW leg of their West Coast tour in February! Here are the dates:
2/15 Hemlock in San Francisco. w/ Soft Bombs
2/16 Backspace (all ages) in Portland. w/ Sundaze and Souvenir Driver
2/18 Lo-Fi in Seattle. w/ Black Nite Crash and Atomic Bride

This will be our first time heading up to Seattle! We are also planning another tour with Sundaze in April.

And...we are starting a monthly themed night at the Ash St. Saloon in downtown Portland. It will be the third Wednesday of every month starting in March. We'll have DJs and bands playing covers of the theme bands. The first night is Joy Division/New Order night. April will be Smiths/Morrissey night. Should be lots of fun!

Just a quick update to say that we had a surprise two day recording session with Simon. Kelley's working on the tracks and we'll probably get them up online soon enough. We also put the Space Waves album and EP back up on bandcamp here: http://spacewaves.bandcamp.com.

we had a party at mindwave a couple weeks ago. our friend nate of happy prescriptions and souvenir driver was in town, so we (me-sarah, kelley and simon) were his backing band and we played some souvenir driver songs and even a new song or two that nate came up with. i played drums on three songs. for two of them i played along to electronic drums but for one song i was the only drummer! i had not really planned on doing that but it happened and it was a lot of fun. it was my first time playing drums like that. strangers family band played and our neighbors' band common crooks i believe they are called. they keep changing their name! we put up a recording of strangers family band on the mindwave facebook page here: mindwave on facebook

wow i forgot how to make tags and links. also up on that page are some recordings of a jam session that kelley, simon, our friend gian and i did the other night. i really like how they turned out! i was taking a nap when simon and gian came over, and i was almost too tired to play but the nice thing about playing music where you live is you only have to walk twenty feet and plug the bass in. so we played and then i went back to sleep.

we are starting a bandcamp page for the studio. we have SO MANY RECORDINGS< OMG. seriously, we have so much music and don't know what to do with it! other than force people to listen to it when they come over? hey, want to come over?

oh yeah, back to the party. boyscout jamboree played too. they are spindrift acoustic. i was upstairs hanging with our dog blue while they played, but it sounded really good from where i was. and then space waves played some songs too--there are some recordings from that on the facebook page as well!

the very first space waves show kelley and i played was outdoors in a parking lot in portland. i like the outdoors shows. we are planning on having another one sometime soon!

i loved his electronic music the instant i first heard it!

by the way we got the boot from our silver lake location and are now located in echo park. technically, i think it's filipinotown but it's pretty much echo park. there's a view of downtown and a courtyard with banana trees and dogs running around. we've been recording a cover of the doors song 5 to 1. i hadn't listened to the song in awhile when i recorded it and i sang some of the lyrics wrong... "i'll get yours, you'll get mine" instead of "I'll get mine, you'll get yours," for example. i'm okay with it though.

Souvenir EP

and having the privilege of hearing this EP many times already i can say without a doubt that it rocks, rules, and definitely does not drool.

Space Waves will be playing a show on January 13th, 2010 at the Silverlake Lounge with Molino and the Half Hearted. The lineup is: Space Waves at 9pm, Molino at 10pm, and the Half Hearted at 11pm. The show costs $8 and is 21+.

The recording of the Dreamtiger album couldn't be going better. We are so glad to be working with them on their first full-length album. I hear Dreamtiger is planning on releasing a digital only single from the album in February.

We recently moved Mindwave Studio from Portland to Los Angeles. We are located in a 1500 square foot loft with a 24 foot exposed wood beam ceiling with great natural acoustics that is in the Silverlake neighborhood.

Mindwave offers a full range of studio services, from engineering and sound recording to mixing and mastering.

The Meeting Places/Old Toy Trains/The Foreign Resort/Space Waves at Mr. T's on October 27th

Recently we were asked to start booking nights at Mr. T's Bowl in Highland Park. The first of these nights is on Tuesday, October 27th with the Meeting Places, Old Toy Trains, the Foreign Resort (from Denmark!), and Space Waves. The music starts at 9pm. 21+ $5.
